FAQ — Email QR Codes
What is an Email QR code?
An Email QR encodes a mailto: link so when scanned a device opens the user's email client with the recipient (and optional subject/body) prefilled.
Are my Email details sent to your server?
No — QR code generation on this site happens client-side by default. The email address, subject and body you enter stay in your browser unless you explicitly use a feature that uploads data.
Which devices support Email QR codes?
Most modern smartphones (iOS and Android) detect QR codes via the Camera app or Google Lens. Some older phones may require a QR scanning app.
How do I create one?
Enter the recipient email, optional subject and body on the generator page, customize the design (optional), then generate and download the PNG or SVG. See the user guide for a short 5-step walkthrough.
Can I prefill subject and message?
Yes. Prefilled subject and body fields are supported, but keep them short and avoid including sensitive personal data to protect privacy and deliverability.
Is it safe to share Email QR codes?
Safe for general use. For public postings, consider using a shared or alias inbox and avoid exposing confidential information in prefilled text.
Can I print the QR code?
Yes. Download the image and include clear instructions like "Scan to email us". Test the printed code with multiple devices before wide distribution.
What if the QR code doesn't open?
Check that the mailto: link is correctly encoded, verify the email address, try another device or QR reader, and ensure the printed code is not distorted.
Can I customize the design?
Yes. You can change colors, size and download format. Keep contrast high so scanners can read the code reliably.
